general synoptic situation:	

A complex low 991 over Finland is moving toward the Lofoten 

Islands while weakening. Several troughs are swinging from the 

North Sea to the Baltic Sea. A low 998 slightly west of the 

Halten Bank moves toward southern Norway while filling up. A high

1024 far west of the Iberian Peninsula moves slightly 

north-eastwards while weakening slightly. A ridge to the Alps 

remains stationary, another shifts from the British Isles to the 

North Sea while intensifying. On Tuesday, a secondary low 997 is 

moving from the Skagerrak to the Baltic States while deepening 

into a gale.
