general synoptic situation:

A low 993 over the southern Russia moves east. An associated 

trough extending to the Baltic States swings southeastwards, 

weakening. A high 1028 over the German Bight moves slowly 

southeast. It will weaken a little bit. An associated ridge 

stretching to the Norwegian Sea will swing to Belarus. From the 

waters close east of Iceland a slightly deepening low moves 

across central Norway to the Gulf of Finland. A high 1021 moves 

from the sea area west of Scotland to the central Norwegian Sea. 

Over the North Atlantic between the British Isles and southern 

Greenland an extensive low pressure system will form.
