general synoptic situation

<br> A low over the Ionian Sea will move slowly eastwards 

and weaken. Strong or gale force winds are expected along 

the edge of this low, from the Gulf of Lions to the Libyan 

Sea and on to the Aegean Sea. The wind will decrease 

during the day. Initially, wave heights will reach 4 to 5 

m in the Gulf of Lions and to the southwest of it, as well 

as in the Libyan and Ionian Seas, but will also decrease 

during the day. Showers and, in places, severe 

thunderstorms are possible, particularly in the eastern 

Mediterranean Sea. Please pay attention to local warnings.
